The ascetic spent his life in dreams of Heaven’s gate,
Not knowing Heaven lives where desires abate.
What talk is this — that Heaven waits above?
Wherever joy takes root, that place is enough.
Hell is the darkness hidden in me and you;
If the heart stays clear, the whole world shines through.
